Maharashtra
The Maharashtra project is aimed at improving the lives of the residents of Maharashtra, India, and more recently Karnataka, India, by enhancing their ability to access renewable energy from bicycle and wind generators as well as photovoltaic arrays. EWB members at the University of Illinois work on projects related to power circuitry to try and meet efficiency goals set by an engineer in the field. All projects include hands-on circuit construction and testing.
The Maharashtra team is seeking electrical engineering students at any level who are interested in circuits or power electronics and would like to get hands-on experience while working for a charitable cause.

5 people new to EWB were present, interested in the Maharashtra project or EWB as a whole. (This provides hope for recruiting!) The goals of the project were discussed, and we set out to begin some focused research that should last for the next few weeks. Meetings will be held almost weekly, though not all will be announced.
